The Southern Appalachia Railway Museum (SARM) is a non-profit organization located in Knoxville, Tennessee, dedicated to the preservation, restoration, and operation of historical railroad equipment, and the preservation of the railroad history of the Southern Appalachia Region. The club sponsors the operation of the Secret City Scenic excursion train in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Each round trip travels approximately 13 miles and lasts one hour and thirty minutes. Trains are pulled by 1950's vintage Alco diesel locomotives. Seating is in an air-conditioned coach and a dining car, both restored from the 1940's era of passenger railroading. An open-air concession car has souvenirs and snacks for sale.

The museum operates passenger excursions in the central Tennessee area, providing a unique opportunity for passengers to experience rail travel. "Missionary Ridge Local Service" - This is a six-mile, 50-minute roundtrip from Grand Junction Station to East Chattanooga Depot, crossing Chickamauga Creek, CSX mainline (ex-W&A), Tunnel Boulevard and Awtry Street bridges and passing through pre-Civil War Missionary Ridge Tunnel. Passengers detrain in East Chattanooga for a layover which includes viewing the locomotive rotate on a turntable and a tour through the railyard and into the restoration shop to see work in progress before reboarding the train for the return trip. In addition to daily "Missionary Ridge Local" service, the Tennessee Valley Railroad will also operate the longer Dixie Land rail excursions in 2002 from Chattanooga to destinations in northwestern Georgia via the Chattooga & Chickamauga Railway (ex-Central of Georgia).

Three Rivers Rambler departs and returns to Volunteer Landing on the Knoxville Riverfront (former L&N station). The trip is one hour and twenty minutes roundtrip. The route is 5 1/2 miles (11 miles roundtrip) over the Knoxville & Holston River Railroad. Caboose, gondola, coach, and Pullman cars are available for passengers.
