Our family visited the museum this past Spring and would not plan a return visit. These folks should visit the Illinois Railway Museum for some needed tips on guest services, theme restoration, volunteer staff and attitude. This is just a big junkyard with a train that goes nowhere. They have plenty of rails so at least build a loop. It's just an ego trip for the proprietors.

This place seems like a junk yard to me, but they could atleast get the information right! Both in person and on their website they say there green hornet diesel locomotive is a 44 ton, it is a 45 ton. That's a BIG difference! They even have a manual for a 45 ton locomotive. They need to get thing together, make the place more interesting. It's like one of them small snake farms you see people in the movies go to on vacation, this is a small barn with a few trains and old cars. For a transportaion museum they need to cover air and water travel, not just ground transportaion!
