Rating : 3 star. Solid, but unspectacular. , 5-Jul-2004

Nothing truly remarkable on this pleasant ride in 1950-60's train cars on a relatively short round trip. Jim Thorpe is a neat little town to spend a day and the model railroad display near the station is very well done.

Rating : 4 star. Like an old friend (to me) , 27-Oct-2004

Jim Thorpe is an awesome town to visit. Cramped though. Carbon County is beautiful in the fall, and riding the train is relaxing too. Jersey Central branchline, Jersey Central and Reading Lines coaches. Also, F3's painted for the Jersey Central.

Boring ride with unexceptional scenery. A group next to us fell asleep! The town where the station is is awesome, though. Very friendly crews. If you're ever in the area, be sure to drop by.

Railtours no longer runs out of Jim Thorpe, PA nor do they run anywhere. Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway, Inc. runs out of Jim Thorpe, PA. Could you please note the change. Thank you.

16 mile round trip; one hour; Jim Thorpe to Old Penn Haven, Pa. Engine: Reading and Northern(parent company) 1984 GM diesel SD 50 at each end of three 1920's coaches; no restroom; no A/C; no food sold; intercom historical information; scenery: Lehigh River seeing rafters, an eagle, kayakers

Rating : 1 star. Lehigh Gorge Scenic , 16-Nov-2005

The railroad owner Andrew Muller won't give a group discount rate, nor does he support any local charities like George Hart's Rail Tours have in the past. Train is pulled and pushed by two crappy ex-uprr SD-50ms'. No a/c, toilets, etc.

Rating : 5 star. A ReliableTourist Train Operator , 6-Jan-2006
Reviewer: John Eline from Tamaqua, PA
It was nice to read the glowing report and 1 star rating previously submitted by John Warda who is employeed by Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway who put Rail Tours out of business after operating train rides in Jim Thorpe for 34 continuous years.
