Orange Empire has world of possibilities, but most remain unrealized. We made the mistake of going on a weekday and found many buildings closed. There were some interesting items exposed, and work is in progress on several projects, but one can only assume that the best rolling stock was behind those locked doors. The gift shop is housed in a nice little depot-styled building, but it's contents were a bit disappointing too. Maybe I should try again on a weekend or holiday and hope there's more to do, more rolling stock to see and maybe even a train to ride.

I had first gone to the museum on a day that Thomas the Tank Engine was there. It was awesome! The events were so amusing for my daughter. In walking through the museum I was in awe with how much history lied on the grounds. I imagined how years from now, that which we rely on may be part of history!I had closed my eyes at one point and visioned men and women in vintage clothing adorning the old wooden trains with their presence. The history had thrilled me!

We went to the museum and were very plesently supprised - we not only saw many different steam engines, we were able to ride on trips within the park. We were fortuate enough to be there on a day that they took a train out of the park and into into a nearby town. What an experience! The children loved the whole thing, the trains that actually chugged, the steam excaping from the engines, the steam whistles, and the actual rides. I highly recommend this visit to others, expecially if you are going down memory lane, or have young children who have never had this type of experiene.

Its only gotten better. The best times to go are on Weekends, more to see and more to do. The festival they hold on mothers day weekend is worth going. You get to see alot of action involving old equipment.

Wow! For only 37.50 each bucks, four of us each took turns at operating a 430,000 lb. diesel locomotive during our 1 hour rental. The chaperone was instructive, pleasant and upbeat! It was a blast. We'll go it again
