Rating : 5 star. Good Times on the Rambler , 15-Oct-2006

This is a great little trip through the heart of scenic Virginia. Being pulled by Richmond Fredericksburg & Potomac 101, an EMD GP-7 diesel locomotive, the ride passes by little country towns, slate quarries, and a big industry. It is a beautiful ride, but it can get a bit noisy. The announcer has a great sense of humor and on days there is a Civil War reenactment the passengers can talk with the people of the 1860’s. If you’re a Yankee watch out as this train is guarded by confederate soldiers of the 15th company A. You can get a light lunch in the commissary car where hotdogs and drinks are served. There are two open air cars for better viewing and two proper passenger cars for sitting back and relaxing. This trip will leave you with some nice memories as you are sure to have good times on the Rambler.
