Last Summer I rode the Alberni Pacific out to the McLean's Mill. The Esquimalt and Nanaimo Railway had closed down the Port Alberni line earlier that year and this was my only chance to ride on a portion of it. The ride was excellent, the smell of steam wafting throught the open windows on the converted cabooses, the sounds of steam are intoxicating, the echo of the whistle. ```` Because the Esquimalt and Nanaimo Railway had shut down the line into Port Alberni the trackage isn't in the greatest condition, so the ride was a little rough, and vegitation was about 4 feet high. Other than that, the trip was great.

I rode this train last year,and is a nice short trip. With steam,it makes riding the rails a trip into history,when trains were all steam before diesel.``It would be nice if the train could run to Parksville,in 2003.

I loved the train ride itself but had a little trouble with the locks in the bathroom. After having a meal which wasn't sitting properly, I was locked in the bathroom for almost an hour with a putrid stench.
