Located in the Heart of beautiful Southwestern Pennsylvania, the Highlander travels on the rails of the former B&O and PENNSYLVANIA Railroads. The Mt. Pleasant & Broadford Railroad (the B&O) was built in 1870 and completed in 1871. This line crosses the Pennsy line in Scottdale (Everson). Our Sunday schedule operates on part of this line.

Visitors to the M&H Railroad will enjoy an 11-mile train ride along the Swatara Creek, while learning the history of the area. Passengers on train excursions will ride in restored 1920's vintage passenger cars while enjoying a realxing ride through the Bucks County countryside. The "New Hope" trains are usually pulled by our restored 1925 Baldwin 2-8-0 Steam Locomotive #40. Listen to the steam whistle and hear the engine work kard as it ascends some of the steepest grades on the New Hope & Ivyland Railroad. This train ride is sure to brnig you back to the "Golden Steam. Trains depart New Hope, PA and travel 4.5 Miles to Lahaska, PA and then return to New Hope, PA. Total Travel time is approximately 45 minutes round trip.

The Reading and Northern excursion train consists of 1920's era coaches with conventional seats, electric lights, and large clear windows which can be raised for ventilation. Seating capacity is 72 per coach. Cars are heated, but not air-conditioned. Each coach has a restroom with a camper-style toilet. On certain trips, seating in heavyweight 1927 Pullman Car, the Lehigh Gorge, is also offered. 10 rooms (20 seats), are sold as a higher priced "premium service" ticket, which includes a snack and beverage service. Motive power is normally two of the best diesel locomotives from the daily fleet.
