Large View The only active railroad on Oahu! Train rides down Hawaii's historical railroad tracks are available year round. Passengers hear the story of the OR&L as well as stories about how sugar cane trains were used on the sugar plantations. We point out sites of historic interest, such as the site of a sisal plantation, historic Fort Barrette, and the "ghost town" of Gilbert. We also talk about the present and future growth of the Leeward Area. At the end of the line we stop the train for a few minutes so passengers can admire the beautiful view of the ocean at Kahe Point. Visitors are invited to use our picnic area, to walk around the train yard to look at the old locomotives and train cars on display, and to browse in our gift shop.

With a blast of its steam whistle, the locomotive chugs along a six-mile stretch of track at a leisurely pace. During your train ride, the Sugar Cane Train crosses a 325-foot curved wooden trestle whose elevation yields panoramic views of neighboring islands and the West Maui Mountains. During your journey, our singing conductor will entertain you Hawaiian-style and point out sites of interest along the way.
